Class 5G visited TESCO to learn about where food comes from!
Miss Gatt’s class had the chance to visit our local TESCO store and find out about food production, as part of their spring term topic. They handled fresh fish, made some bread and sampled some fresh produce!
Class 5W’s assembly on Chocolate and Fair Trade!
Mrs Woods’ class told us all about how chocolate was farmed and made- this was all part of their spring term topic. They also told us the hard-hitting story of how the chain of command for making and selling chocolate is weighted very heavily against the African farmers at the start of the chain. The class got the message over very well, and the audience were left thoughtful about Fair Trade!

HEALTHY SCHOOLS PROJECT FROM YEAR FIVE TO YEAR SIX!
Greengate Health Ambassadors provided a presentation about how to make Barrow a happier and healthier place to live. They confidently expressed their findings, work and ideas to other primary schools, NHS officials and the mayor.
For their excellent ideas, work and commitment to the project they were rewarded with: a certificate, badges, a goodie bag and fruit kebabs.

Year Five become STEM ambassadors for the day!
Our year five children hosted a STEM transition morning for Ramsden infants- year 2. Mrs Ditchfield set the children a STEM challenge, and the children worked together to solve a ‘third world’ problem. This is just the start of our program of links and transition with our feeder infant school, and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as you can see from the ‘mess’ at the end!!
Fruity Friday for year five!
As part of their ‘healthy eating’ project, year five have had the chance to taste different fruits during their Friday break time….this has become a very popular event!
A FRIENDSHIP assembly from 5G -May 2017!
Miss Gatt’s class gave us a lovely final assembly on the importance of friendship…these children will be moving on to year six in September 2017…we look forward to it!
