At Greengate Junior School we consider ourselves to be a highly inclusive environment where all learners enjoy learning.

We aim to provide opportunities for all children to develop as independent, confident, successful learners with high aspirations so that when they leave Greengate, they are resilient and understand how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society, and have a real sense of belonging to a community.

All pupils are helped to achieve their potential. We have a high focus on developing children’s moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding.

We also ensure that children are well prepared for life in modern Britain. 

Those who are ‘most able’ are challenged and encouraged to expand their skills and knowledge.

Those who find learning more difficult are encouraged, challenged and given targeted support to embed skills, to develop at their own pace and to learn in a style that best suits their individual needs. We offer this through Nurture and targeted Alternative Provision.

Our curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure coverage of knowledge and progression of skills. 

We provide pupils with memorable experiences that will help enhance their learning, and opportunities from which children can learn and develop a range of transferable skills.

The curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning – it embraces the community in which it is situated, recognising the rich local history and the geography of the area, as well as making important links with local businesses.

Through a rich and diverse curriculum, we are able raise aspirations and instil a sense of personal pride in achievement, and we provide a purpose and relevance for learning which ultimately helps every student to find strengths and interests.
