Sports Funding

In April 2013, the government announced that it was providing all state-funded schools with primary aged children with a share of £150 million of funding to improve the quality and provision of PE and sport.

The money is intended to be used to create a lasting legacy for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by inspiring our sport stars of the future and by encouraging all children to enjoy a healthy and active life-style.

Schools can decide on the best way to use their funding and we would like to inform parents of how some of it has already been used, as well as some plans for the near future.

PE and Sport Premium

At Greengate, our overarching vision in PE is for our pupils to enjoy being active and to appreciate the physical, social and mental health benefits of an active lifestyle now and in their future. We want to provide children with a range of experiences and allow them to develop their skills of movement, as well as to develop and apply their interpersonal skills, including determination, self-belief, honesty, teamwork, respect and passion, as celebrated in the School Games Organisation. We want children to have the chance to compete at a variety of levels and apply their skills individually and in teams.

Funding for Academic Year 2025-2026

The PE & Sport Premium funding allocation for Greengate Junior School is £17600 for the academic year 2025-2026

Our objectives for the PE & Sport Premium funding is to continue the delivery of high-quality PE and ensure inclusivity and equality against these 5 key indicators:

· Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching gymnastics and orienteering.

· Engagement of all pupils in daily physical activity, supporting them in achieving the UK Chief Medical Officer’s Physical Activity Guidelines of 60 minutes per day.

· The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement, supporting children’s mental and physical health and the positive impact this has on wider learning.

· Broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to all pupils with pathways beyond school signposted.

· Increased participation in competitive sport and festival experiences with children from other schools.
